Struggle,
Hang in there girl. Car troubles suck. Used to be the story of my life. Try not to let everything get you down.
Just a word of personal advice. I used to think when I had done something I felt was wrong, and everything was going badly it was punishment. IT IS NOT. Just life.
Keep your chin up. We are with you!!!

Do you still attend meetings?
by Sassenach ini'm wondering if you still attend meetings?
do you hold out hope for the watchtower organization?
if you've left entirely, have you found another form of worship?

Welcome Happy to be Free,
It truly is amazing how much more time you have to appreciate the things that are really important. Isn't it? Keep spending your time wisely. A family is a wonderful investment.
Larc,
I did the same (not discussing the real reasons) with my parents. My mother has said that is why I am where I'm at now. Because I wouldn't discuss my doubts. Not even with my father. I saw no point in it. I could have quoted the very scriptures they would have used. They really don't want to hear how you really feel. So why have a non-discussion?

Do we need a 'Faithful and Discrete Slave' ?
by ISP inthere is a thread already started on the subject of the fds elsewhere but i thought we may as well deal with aspect.. do we need a fds?.

Amen Brother JT. It always tweaks me when the Society constantly quotes John 13:35. Then picks on other religions for their lack of this. Somewhere in all the studying, meetings, fs, this gets left behind somewhere. Individuals have it, but then again so do individuals in other churches.
What a false claim to be making.

need help re 607 date
by hosebracket ini am new to this.. i have a problem.
someone on my ministry asked me about the date that we hold so dear....607 bce and asked me to prove it to them.
this would not be a problem i thought as the f&ds would have solid basis for using such a date.

Welcome Scholar. Where is the proof for 607?

taking the long view
by amicus innot often have i regretted being an inactive jw.
today though, i heard a true story i would have loved to use as an "effective introduction" in a talk.
it seems two southern gentlemen were out frog gigging in a very remote area.

Wendy,
You just come right on up here. Bring the brood. I'll find something mouth watering to fix for you.

Pardon me, if this is redundant. I have to agree with everyone. Why waste on more day of our lives quibbling over words and splitting hairs. Life is too short for that. I think our purpose in life is to find joy and love and share it with everyone we touch. What could possibly be wrong with that?

To Everyone,
There is a little bit of me here in each one of your post (O.K.) maybe a lot.
It is so comforting to me know others feel the same. It is a tough road to hoe, but well worth the effort.
This forum just helps to ease my way.
It is great to feel understood. And cared about.
It is also wonderful to know that those that had the courage to leave are intelligent thinking people who don't just curl up into a ball and die because they are no longer part of the org.
Love to you all. Keep sharing. It is so validating and encouraging.

Ooops Larc,
Sorry I saw you addressed the gang up thing to my husband. I don't think he will feel that way either. He is happy that I have people to talk to who have "been there and done that".

Larc,
That is pretty much the conclusion I have come to. I can sense the same thing with my parents.
I don't feel ganged up on at all. I feel loved.
Thanks again everybody. And feel free to add anything from anyone!!
Struggle,
How are you doing?
